Tour Orangutan Kalimantan

 Welcome to Orangutan Travel!

Welcome to Indonesia! A country has 17.000 islands, vast virgin rainforest, Endemic wildlife, and a cultural tapestry as diverse and delicious as the food, Fruits and crafts

Borneo is a huge island that has a special place in the imagination of the West. It is the third largest island after Greenland and New Guinea. Borneo covers 746,309 sq km. Indonesian Borneo is known as Kalimantan, meaning “ River of Diamonds“. Kalimantan is divided into four provinces; East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan. Many of the island’s creatures have adapted to the conditions of life in the rainforest. Original people from Kalimantan are called “ Dayak “, meaning people who live up stream.

Travel to Kalimantan is both intriguing and humbling, the atmosphere created by the beautiful balance between the wildlife, the landcapes and cultures. We are dedicated to helping you plan your perfect trip, with expert and informed travel advice whether you are a first time holiday-maker or an experienced traveller. We can offer you a recommended tour for each island of Indonesia and we can tailor-make a safari to suit you needs.

In the beginning, Tanjung Putting National Park was a preserve area for plants and wild animals. An area about 305.000 ha. It was determined by the Dutch Government on June 13, 1936, and by the Forest Minister of Republic Indonesia, as the National Park on May 12, 1982. Since 1996, this National Park, which is located at the Peninsula of South West Central Borneo, has been enlarged into 415,40ha.

"No amount of effort is to much for Ennog, We wanted to do a bit of extra hiking and he arranged a 4 hr hike early morning and also an excellent night hike. I am learning Bahasa Indonesia and also got lots of free tutoring from Ennog. Conclusion: Ennog and his crew were excellent. I would say this is the best value for money experience. Would I recommend a friend ? YES. Would I go back ? DEFINATELY" Nolan Loxton

Leif Cocks Kalimantan Orangutan Tour - Jul 2017 - AUD$3,300.00 (12 PLACES ONLY)

In this specially crafted expedition you will visit the jungle habitat of the orangutan and help protect the environment for generations to come. Our destination for this trip are the jungles of Central & West Kalimantan (Borneo), to see the orangutan in its natural environment and also visit the IAR's orangutan rescue centre.

After visiting this wonderful animal's natural environment, we will head to West Borneo and visit the IAR centre in Ketapang. This, for many, is a highlight as you will come into close proximity with many young orangutans and garner a deeper understanding of their plight. If this visit doesn't move you nothing will! While there we will have the opportunity to see the work being done, hear from IAR Director, Karmele Sanchez about the latest news from the centre and also get involved with the enrichment programmes required for the orangutans located here.

Participants on this trip will raise a minimum of $1,000.00 AUD in fundraising which will go towards The Orangutan Project’s work for the endangered species.
